FAQ

Q: Is to OK to use laundry detergent in cold water?
A: You can use our detergents with cold water, but warm or hot water provides the best cleaning results. If you wash with cold water, we suggest you use Tide Coldwater. Tide Coldwater can clean effectively in water as cold as 40°F (4°C). If the water in your washing machine is colder than this, add a bit of warm water to bring the temperature to that level. If you use another detergent, the water should be at least 60°F (16°C). If the water in your washing machine is colder than this, add a bit of warm water. We recommend you only use a cold wash for items that specify this on the care label.

Q: Is this product good for whites as well as colors?

A: Yes, Tide Coldwater Clean can be used with both whites and colors; however, as with traditional laundry, sorting by color is highly recommended prior to cleaning, as some garments may bleed even in cold water conditions.

Q: Can I use this product on my delicates?
A: Yes, Tide Coldwater Clean can be used on any garments that are considered machine washable. Some garments can be more susceptible to color loss and bleeding, and as with all detergents, it is recommended that a small hidden area of the garment be tested for colorfastness if there is concern.

Q: What happens if I use warm water by mistake?
A: Tide Coldwater Clean can also be used in warm and hot water washes.

Q: Do I need to dilute Tide Coldwater Clean before I use it?
A: No, you do not need to dilute Tide Coldwater Clean prior to use. Simply follow the usage instructions on the packaging and fill the cap of Tide Coldwater Clean to the appropriate line and pour it.

Detergent that cleans and saves energy?

To test the claim that the Tide Coldwater detergent cleans in lower temperatures hence saving energy and money was tested by washing the clothes of two college students with loads of dirty laundry. First the whites: the armpit discoloration needed a second pretreatment and unfortunately hot water option as the initial coldwater option failed. However mud, dirt and even week old food markings did come off at first trial with single dose and coldwater cycle. As for the dark bright colors while sweat discolorations did not come off even with pretreatment at coldwater preference hot water was not applied in fear off not retaining their size and shape. In short while with pretreatment dirt, soil, and food/beverage discolorations were cleaned at coldwater single cycle:)

Works well on everything but whites

I lived the Tide plus for cold water. Lights and dark clothing came out wonderful. My whites not much. Clean but some socks were dingy. I'm kinda particular about stuff like that so...

I Love It!!

Have been using the Cold water Tide I was sent for a couple of weeks now and I must say I LOVE it!! Really have never noticed how dull my clothes looked in a cold water wash, and now they are looking new and bright again!! So happy with this product. Will continue to use this product for sure, and have recommended it to quite a few friends and family members. Thanks for allowing me to be part of this campaign.

Gets oil stains out without fading

Tide has always been the gold standard in clothes washing! But I had recently began to doubt If it has lost its charm! I found some of the stains it used to get out on my kids stuff not really coming out. Well. That's until this new tide Coldwater clean! This stuff took out stains that were emebeded 7 washes ago without having to use the hot water I usually use to get stains out! It also left that super clean and fresh smell you want to have in clothes after you wash them! All I have to say is Tide is back baby!!!

Good alternative to regular

This is a good alternative to regular liquid, though I wish this came in a “sensitive skin” version. This hasn’t caused issues yet but the smell is stronger than my usual unscented brand. It definitely got my clothes clean in a regular cold wash.

Hot water no more

Tide has never let me down, I have tried many different laundry detergents and none of them have surpassed the quality of tide. I love that there are so many different varieties you can try depending on what your looking for. The tide could water is one of my favorites because it does the job without hot water and I love the scent. I will be buying the tide cold water clean again.
