Overall Review
I have used powder Tide for years. I decided to switch it up and buy the Mountain Spring scent which I have used in the past and enjoyed. Not any more. My clothes smell like they have been sitting in a barn. Kind of a stale lawn clippings scent with a slight animal potty smell. Not overwhelmingly strong but still not pleasant. I am switching to a different brand of detergent just to get that smell out of my clothes.
Best detergent. Works well on all kinds of stains. I just have one problem with it. I throw away every cup I purchase after the first one. This wastes Tide's money and is damaging to the environment. Sell the cups in every fifth box and label those boxes. Or you can sell the cups separately with a coupon to purchase them free with the purchase of a box of detergent.
I love Tide Original Powder Laundry Detergent but where did it go? Has it been discontinued? I can’t find it at Sam’s Club, which is where I have been buying it for years, or Target and online retailers are charging ridiculous prices. I do not like the Tide with Ultra Oxi and some things can’t be cleaned with anything that contains Oxi Clean. Please bring the original back!
This is one of many examples of where marketing departments in order to justify their existence will look to make changes based on “data“ and “surveys” only to find, after re-tooling, it was a huge mistake. I agree with the other reviewer‘s protesting the changes to the original Tide.
This is no longer sold at Target and hard to find at local retailers, online retailers are way overpriced! Has this product been discontinued???
I can’t believe we are still begging you to change the scent back to it’s REAL original. What a huge mistake you have made to change the scent. You have lost so many customers. So so sad.
Last year's Tide had 183 load per box. This year's Tide has 143 loads per box. But they are the same box and weight. Please answer, this drives me nuts.
In the interest of saving money and reducing plastic waste, I decided to try the old fashioned powdered Tide. People may say that newer is better, but you can't beat an original. I had used liquid detergents in the past but even using the bare minimum never seemed to get my clothes fully clean. Using just the minimum amount of Tide powder knocks stains out and leaves my clothes looking cleaner than before. The smell isn't overpowering either which is great. I live in a third floor walk up apartment with laundry in the basement so the box being light weight is a bonus. I use warm water in a top loading HE washer and there's no clumping at all. If you are looking for a budget friendly detergent that actually works, look no further than the original Tide.
Count me among the many people here stating that they suffered health problems from the new formula. I had symptoms similar to UTIs, BV, and/or yeast for several months but test after test came back negative. I thought I was going insane. Turned out to be my laundry detergent and resolved as soon as I switched.
Tide powder is my favorite! It has always been my mom's favorite too.
After reading all these bad reviews on the new "original" Tide, I now realize it's not in my head, it's the Tide!! Why would you change a scent that's been around and loved by so many for decades with a scent that is overwhelming, sickening, and headache-inducing to a LOT of people??!! So many of the reviewers also say that they've used Tide for years with no allergic reactions, but suddenly with the new "original" formula, they're having suddenly having allergic reactions. You keep saying "we put a lot of research into creating something everyone will like," "your satisfaction/safety is important to us," "use Tide Pods Mountain Spring scent, which is similar to the original scent," blah, blah, blah, on and on. Who are all these people you performed research with?? You didn't ask for my input, and it's obvious from most of the reviews about the new smell/formula, you didn't ask them for their input either! Instead of changing up something that's been a great, reliable staple product for us and past generations for so long, why not just, ya know, create a new fragrance/formula, and keep the REAL original fragrance/formula on the shelf as an option instead of replacing it with some inferior product. Let the people decide if they want to switch to the new smell and formula, and those of us who have depended on the REAL original product can keep using what we've known and loved for so long. The people have spoken! Please listen to us!! You are losing customers right and left over this. Is it worth it? Do you even care, or are we just a number??
The blue dye is unnecessarily dark. The scent is heavy and reminds one of low-quality discounted brands. The formula causes itching and other skin irritation. Please consider changing the formula to include less dye, more appealing scent, and less harsh chemicals.
In the search to lessen the amount of plastic, I need to wash my clothes. I found tide powder in a cardboard box at Costco. I’m not sure if you can find it at other stores but it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I hate plastic, especially in the water.
I had been a devoted, faithful Cheer Powder user for my entire adult life (over 40 years) until a group of intelligent individuals at the parent company decided to end it's advertising and, later, stop producing it entirely (way to go, people). My grandmother had been a Tide Original Powder user for many decades. In years past, Tide Original was my backup brand for periods of time when Cheer Powder wasn't available. Recently, I bought a box, expecting the same old Tide Original that I grew up with and had been known to enjoy in years past. I couldn't use it -- had to give it to a neighbor (who has since thrown it out -- can't use it, either). The smell is now strong and offensive compared to the true, old school Tide Original and it makes us itch really bad. I read the directions to ensure I was using the product correctly. No dice. That stuff is just plain awful. Again, way to go: First, you discontinue Cheer Powder and now you've ruined my backup detergent, as well....
What are the measurements if they forgot to put the scoop in, I need actual measurements.
Tide has made changes to the original formula over the past couple years. Consumer driven marketing supposedly drove this company to change a decades old product which was FIRST in the consumer's eyes for many years. Changes in ingredients to enhance its cleaning effectiveness is a different discussion than changing the smell of the original product. In my humble opinion, ORIGINAL should be removed from the box and product label. It is misleading to the consumer to sell something ORIGINAL when it is not the original product, particularly with the smell. Gone are those days when using the Tide original where your clothes smelled that familiar TIDE fresh and clean. The smell is different. Some in the industry may think for the better according to consumer research, but wisdom with age and my nose tells me otherwise. Consumer demographics and target audience are changing. Perhaps younger people know better. The older consumer knows differently. Others on this review site agree. Consumer beware, this is not the TIDE of old. You aren't just imagining this different smell.
I have used Tide original for over 15 years and the powder for at least 10. I bought the new version and the smell is so strong it aggravated my asthma. My skin is bothered by the powder too, even when I wash my hands right after scooping it. I don’t know what changed but I might have to switch to something else because it’s too much for me.
I can't use Tide anymore. Please bring the one mom used when I was a kid.
I have found tide liquid and other liquids don't clean as well as tide powder and not as cost efficient. I was going thru a giant bottle of liquid a week. This is a scam. Don't cancel the powder It works better and is more cost efficient
I have been using this product for decades. After using the new formula I have been breaking out in Eczema and hives all over my body. My face swole and I had to go to the hospital. What ever is in this new formula is perfumed and I’m very disappointed that I can no longer have a safe detergent to purchase.
I've been a loyal Tide original user for over 2 decades but the new scent is so horribly overpowering that I get a headache. I had to put my clothes back through the wash cycle without detergent TWICE just to lower the scent enough to be able to wear them.
Bought the powder because store was sold out of liquid, washed 2 loads with powder before noticing that our clothing is all ruined with what looks like bleached spots! I do not use bleach as I am allergic so it had to be something in the powder. It has ruined over $300 in clothes! I will NEVER but it again!
The smell is awful! I have to wash my clothes in other detergent just to get to a level that my family can tolerate! “ tide” smell os so strong it’s caused watery/swollen eyes runny nose and nausea…. What ever you did to the beloved tide brand which is the only brand I have ever known …. Please go back
I've been using Tide Original powder for decades. A year or so ago, they changed the scent. I am allergic to perfumes, and cannot tolerate the new scent. I've seen many reviews that say the same. Bring back the original scent, and I'll return. But for now, no more Tide. :(
Tide, please please please please look at the reviews and listen to your customers and give them what they want. Put this newer stinky scent to bed, everyone keeps complaining about the same thing. Do the right thing!
I changed back to powder after advised that it would prevent build up of mold in my front load washer door that the liquid detergent produces. The smell is very off setting, not like the original. It did prevent mold build up as was my original goal. Thinking I just got a bad box I bought a second smaller box. Same smell. Very deceiving saying original scent when clearly it had changed. Time to change brands. Very disappointing. If you go back to your original formula, I will be a returning customer.
Clothes come out smelling as if they have never even been washed! I’ve used Tide for40 years and tide changed the scent of original Tide several years ago but now the last box i opened is sickening to smell! The clothes don’t smell fresh or clean when coming out of the washer and after drying they don’t smell clean! Tide, you have already gotten rid of clean breeze scent, so I had to start using the “original” that WAS NOT original anymore. Now I’ll have to find another detergent just like everything else that’s disappeared in the last few years! No quality whatsoever!!! I don’t know who Tide is catering to now but I’m sure your loyal customers are leaving in droves!
So we’ve wasted more of our hard earned money on a trusted product. I understand the need to change things but don’t continue to call it original. The new smell is horrendous. I’ve not only got a whole huge box of detergent I can’t use, I’ve also got to rehash my clothes! And search for a new detergent my husband won’t be allergic to. Stupid decision Proctor
My family has always used tide. I wanted to go back to the original scent, but it is not the original scent. I have allergies, and the “new original” Tide irritates them and gives me a severe headache. I have also tried using the scent free tide, and the clothes don’t smell clean it all. Please go back to your original scent… It’s much better. If the scent of the original Tide remains the same, I will have to start looking for new detergent.
Why do manufacturers feel they have to change a great product? This new smell is horrible. The entire house smells terrible and I have to rinse the clothes a second time to try to get rid of the overbearing smell. Lucky me, I bought two bottles.
This smell is HORRIBLE!!!! I have to wash my clothes twice just to try to get the scent out.. its unbearable not satisfied with this product, the best thing about washing clothes is that fresh clean smell, but smelling them now after washing them with Tide just puts me in a foul mood never thought that would happen with laundry.
Seriously I bought a second bottle in hopes that the first bottle was just a bad batch… nope it smells like a sickening flower.. why would you do that!?!?! Now I have to find a new brand of detergent
I just bought my last box of Tide original. I started having an allergic reaction to it on my eyes and armpits. I know you changed something with scent, and who knows what else. I used it for cloth diapers and it was great. But now I'm done. I am visiting the dermatologist now for skin allergens because you messed with a staple product. Ugh. Do I recommend it? It's great if your don't react to it! And you can reach out to me via email. I won't be calling.
Tide original powder contains more OBA then Tide mountain Spring powder?
I’m so disappointed in the new Tide scent. It smells like a cheap chemical dominated product. We are being gaslighted by efficiency experts who study environmental issues and I don’t believe they can’t do better. People like fragrance and somehow anything that brings life and joy they seem to ban- misery loves company. I’m not purchasing anymore.
I’ve been using tide powder for my cloth diapers for almost 3 years and have just needed to buy more so this is my first time using the new formula. It’s HORRIBLE! My cloth diapers are not getting clean at all. It’s frustrating when a good thing is changed and is made worse. This has been a major complaint amongst the cloth diapering community.
Let me add my voice to the chorus of voices hating the new scent. Overpowering, even after extra rinse. Last Tide product I’ll ever use
I used to love to scent of Tide pods but now with the new scent, my clothes and laundry smell worse than my toilet cleaner! Why why why did you change the scent?!
I have been looking for the original scent and this isn’t it, I thought I had a bad batch so ended up buying another and sure enough it smelled the same. You guys should definitely bring back the old classic scent as it smelled fresher and not at chemically as the new one.
I’ve tried to self adjust with the new scent but I just can’t. As much as I love tide. I’ve literally used it my whole life (36 years) ! But I can’t anymore. I’m breaking up with tide until the old original scent comes back. Seriously if it ain’t broke, why fix it?! Tide was the BEST laundry detergent hands down. No question. And then you tried to make it even better by fixing it, but you broke it. Along with my heart 😔
I would make 1 change. It is frustrating trying to dig down thru powder to get the scoop. Can it be placed at the top. I always spill a bit searching. Thank you
Why would y’all change the smell? I haven’t bought it since.
I’ve used tide my whole life never had any issues and then all of a sudden the last batch seems like I’m highly allergic to it. I’ve changed to a diff detergent for sensitive skin and it’s helped a lot . Kinda disappointed as I loved tide.
Why why why did you change the smell? Original Powdered Tide used to be one of the best products on the detergent aisle. It was my go-to for deep stain removal, whites, workout clothes and my boys’ sports uniforms. And for everything else I used Tide Pods (spring meadow.) I stock up for months so I didn’t even realize the scent had changed until this weekend. I first noticed it with my whites using the powder— the smell was so strong I thought I had mistakenly spilled some shower cleaner. For my next round I opened my tide pods and ran the cycle and realized it was the Tide. I found a package of my old pods and compared the two. The new smell is horrific. I have had to Rewash everything. Unless it changes back, I am going to have to find a new brand. You cannot wear the clothes washed in the new smell without getting a headache.
What happened to the original tide scent? This new scent is horrible it smells rancid, like vomit. I will never purchase another bottle of tide original scent, the “original” original scent smelled great. The scent now is just gross.
Something is off. I’ve been using tide pods forever. Not sure if I got a bad batch but the scent is strong, bad, overwhelming. I won’t be purchasing again.
We’ve been using Tide original scent in powder form for many many years, but something changed recently. I just opened a new box purchased at Target in April 2023 and after 1 load, my husband is itching like crazy on his feet (he put on socks from this load). I’ve got boxes sitting at home, is there a way to find out if all our boxes are the updated concoction? We certainly can’t waste 5 boxes and will need to exchange, but love Tide and hope this original version is changed back to what it was for so many years. Thanks.
I bought a big thing of this.. and it smells terrible. Not at all how it used to. Massively disappointed and annoyed. I rewashed an entire load, that’s how much I hate it
For everyone who deplores the new "original" scent as much as I do, get the Mountain Spring powder. Seriously. It's a much lighter fragrance that just smells "clean", and isn't sickeningly sweet and cloying. No, it doesn't smell like the old "original" scent, but it definitely comes close to it.
I started back using tide powder recently and really enjoy it the smell I love especially when using to clean the house. My only issue is that recently I am having a hard time finding tide powder in original scent. And noticed that the weight is still the same on the large box but it now says 113 loads where it used to say 102 loads. But the weight and ounces are still the same. Are you taking up the price on this size soon and trying to fool us into thinking is it is more when it is really the same?
What happened to the ORIGINAL Tide scent I LOVED as a kid??!!! The new scent is over-powering floral and does not come close to the REAL original!! Doing laundry is a pain - at least take me back to my childhood scent to make the task bearable!
Why can't you sell both scents? The original was way better. But that's just my opinion. Please bring back the original scent tide!! I love your brand and don't want to switch but I can't stand the new scent!! Please!!
What happened to the scent everyone loved?? Why change a good thing? To save money. That's why. I'm sure I'm going to get a canned reply about how this was "researched a whole bunch to make sure..." blah blah, ad nauseum. Bring back the ORIGINAL "original" scent and I bet you'll see your reviews take a pretty big jump That said, I'm hugely disappointed by the latest formulation. The scent is not refreshing. It's overpowering. It's also not the original scent. It cleans fine I suppose. I stopped using it. Did I mention the scent....? Bring back the OG original please.
How about that! Leave it alone. Great with Downey. It was fresh and clean. My neighbors loved the smell coming from my dryer vent and me to!! Enough with changing…keep the quality!
The new scents smell terrible! Mountain Spring used to smell so good.
Please bring back the original scent. The new scent is so sweet and gross, not fresh like it used to be. The “try Mountain Spring” suggestion is no good, either. It doesn’t smell like the original.
I've been a loyal Tide consumer for decades, and was able to tolerate formula and scent changes in the past. This latest change however, is just awful, it doesn't smell clean just very perfumed. Family and friends say the same, that they're on the hunt for a replacement brand. Their recommendations to use fragrance free, or other scents is just aggravating. Tide now has an excessive amount of options on the shelves, why mess with the OG. I hope they go back to what the consumers want.
The new scent of Tide original is gross! I had to throw the entire box away. After 25 years of Tide I am switching to a different brand now. Why couldn’t you just leave the “Original” the “Original”?!
Please fire whoever decided to change the Original Scent Tide powder to whatever horrific stench this nightmare is. My family has been using Tide since the 70's and never had a problem. Now, even after leaving the box in the garage for 2 weeks it still reeks of a chemical spill. On top of that, the smell won't leave the clothes even after repeated washings (4) without any detergent! Please go back to the Original formula and save the "updates" for other products designed for heavy smokers who live next to landfills. Also, your responses to comments are ridiculous when you read over the literally hundreds of negative reviews on this page. LISTEN TO YOUR ACTUAL CUSTOMERS!!! (And yes, I know how ridiculous it is to be shouting on a detergent review!)
Been using a different brand for last few years. Decided to buy a great big box from Sam’s Club today to see if it would help get the smell of mildew out of some improperly stored clothes. I opened the the box and was overwhelmed with a bad smelling lotion type smell. I am waiting for the results of the mildew smell though. So far, when I open the lid it smells like lotion and not mildew so maybe it will help! I was hoping for the smell I remembered from before when I purchased the ORIGINAL scent box. This is deceiving since there is NOTHING original about the smell. I thought my sense of smell was messed up but checked with someone who uses Tide and they said the smell has changed and obviously this review section says the same. Guess I will be going back to the previous brand of powder soap!
I really appreciate how effectively Tide cleans clothes, which is obviously the main objective for a laundry detergent. However, the scent has steadily gone downhill and that’s why I can’t rate it at 5 stars. I grew up in the 80’s/90’s and can still remember how clean and fresh my clothes smelled. The scent was not overpowering, it was lovely and had staying power. Please consider bringing back the true scent from years past that many people miss and others will grow to love too. Please!
The new upgraded scent is way to strong and fake smelling. Please go back to the scent from 15 years ago. That had a light clean smell.
opened up my new box of tide laundry powder.. ran a load, and was completely overwhelmed by the new scent!! i ran extra baking soda in the wash to try to get some of the scent out and it’s kinda fine, but after a week, the entire hallway my laundry room is in smells like this new scent, and my clean towels linens that share my laundry detergent cabinet are now completely saturated with the smell too. awful! i can’t imagine all this scent wafting around isn’t harmful to breathe in.. at least with the old formula it smelled fresh and nice… i grew up with the original tide powder detergent and came back to using it after we bought our first house. i miss the smell of “home” i’ve come to associate with the old “original” formula. i honestly might have to transfer this detergent powder to some kind of sealed bucket to keep the overpowering scent from permeating through literally everything. i really, REALLY hope there will be enough complaints to bring the previous formula back. also (this is a slightly older problem), the box no longer has an overhanging lip to keep the lid closed, which is a BIG problem with using the detergent when there are curious pets around. i sure won’t be in a hurry to stock up on tide powder anytime soon.. and i hope when i’m out of this terrible-smelling one in a year, we can have the original “original” scent back! otherwise, i’ll be on board with others in declaring i’ll be switching to another brand.
I am a big fan of Tide products. I usually use Pods but in effort to save water used in Pods, I switched to Original powder. My complaint is that it does not have that Original Scent smell. It lacks a smell. Tide original would fill our laundry room with a wonderful scent before. I do like the efficiency with cleaning our laundry. I am thankful that has not changed. Glad to read your team is working on this. Meanwhile I will hang in there.
You keep changing your formulas and have pushed me right out from using any of your products. You changed your original scent years ago and I could not get that scent out of my clothes. I started using the unscented that doesn’t work at all and I started mixing detergents. You have even done this with Downy. Good bye. You have lost a 35 year customer.
Sorry, but the last box I got smells awful. I had a tiny bit left of my previous box (it lasts me forever) and low and behold I’m not crazy! They smell completely different. If you want a different scent that’s fine (although I’m not sure who would buy it!), but why lie and try to pass it off as the original scent. I won’t use it and there goes my hard earned $ :( I’m not happy w/ feeling like I got scammed, but if you ever bring back the old scent I’ll come back. Until then I’ll have to use a different product….
Tide has changed the original scent; you do see the problem with these words together, right? When “original” is no longer the original, there’s a problem. Now I have a large box of Tide that I can’t stand. And I’m supposed to try the Mountain Spring to see if that’s the right one? I still think powdered Tide does the best job of cleaning of anything out there; the pods are for the birds. I’m going to be peeved if 1) Mountain Spring stinks and 2) I can’t find it in powdered form. Value and Quality can’t be rated higher since I have spent money on a large box of Tide that I can’t stand to use!
Why did you add the blue crystals to your original powdered tide. We do NOT like your new formula and wish you’d bring the original powdered formula back to market! Thank you, The Gilmore Family
It’s obvious your formula has changed. Please put out the old Tide once again and my family and I will start purchasing your product again
I am a long user of Tide Powder Detergent. Yes I strayed due to price, but came back. It really does take out 7 day old stains. This is THE ONLY detergent that gets my husband's NC socks clean!! The only thing I would change is the smell. I've been using the Mountain Spring scent which is nice but doesn't leave your clothes fresh smelling without using scent beads. Please bring back the scent from the 60s that was delightful!! Or make the powder in the same scents as the liquid and or Pods. PLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING THE POWDER!!! I LOVE THIS STUFF
I have used Tide Original for 25 years and the new scent is making me sick. Please bring back the Original. This is gross.
Why fix something that isn't broken? I grew up on original scent tide, but unfortunately now my entire family has insisted on changing detergents. So disappointing. What's funny is the majority of those leaving feedback reflect the same SCENTiment (see what I did there?...). Please consider a CocaCola move, and go back to the classic tide scent. Thank you.
Tide seems to still clean okay, but the smell is so foul that I have to stop using it. I thought it was "just me" but my husband who has sensitive skin and requires another detergent for his clothing asked me to stop using it on my own clothing because he said they smell "putrid." I agree. TIDE are you listening? Plenty of other people also loathe this new, bad odor.
I am so disappointed with the new fragrance to the original tide. You should have called it a different name and leave the original alone. Not every one wants to smell strong fragrances on their clothes. There are many people that are sensitive to chemicals/ strong odours. This scent is the worst!!!
I have used Tide powder for many years and have always like it; however, the current fragrance is off-putting. I remember the days when my mother used " Clothes Line Fresh " powder and I always enjoyed bedding down with the fresh, subtle scent of Tide.
THE SMELL HAS BECOME SO STRONG THAT AFTER FIFTY YEARS I CAN NO LONGER USE TIDE POWDER. BRING BACK THE PRIOR LIGHT SCENT. I HAVE STOPPED USING THIS.
Bought the original scent in powder and it was so strong even just sitting in the opened box. I had such an asthma attack we had to wrap it up in two garbage bags and throw it away. Will you PLEASE bring back the true original scent FORMULA? PLEASE. Most of us long time Tide customers do not like strong over powering and lingering smell In our home, in our clothes and in our bed linens and your “Original” original was just perfect the way is was and the way it cleaned. I am truly missing and nostalgic for the True Original Tide. Thank you! Again please make us happy and bring back the correct Original- will the real Original please stand up?
We used Tide original when I was a child, a long time ago - 50"s. When I got older on my own, I tried other brands. but none compared to Tide. I still use it and the powder only. I do not like pods. Anyway, it is getting harder to find any Tide powder. Are you going to discontinue completely? Lord I hope not.
I've been using this for some time and this new scent is not at all the same. The smell is not pleasant. I will have to look for another brand. I can't be the only one complaining about this. I actually paid more because of the scent.
New scent is awful! If you are going to change the scent create a new label. The liquid original scent smell is overpowering so I switched to powder. Now the powder has a new "original scent" that was snuck in. When I see friends I don't want to smell what detergent they use as their cologne or perfume. Ridiculous. Don't change something that people have loved for years and years. Do these comments really get shared with the research and development departments? People are upset. Do something!
Been loosing sleep over itchy skin after using Tide for 20 years… went to the doctor and we couldn’t figure out why ive been having a allergic reaction. Googled if Tide changed their formula recently and well. Found my answer. Good job guys. You ruined and good thing and caused me physical pain. Never again.
Why did you have to go and change a good thing? I've used tide original my whole 58 years and my mother used tide original her whole 55 years before me. Please go and make Tide great again.
I have used only Tide for the last 40 plus years. It has always clean well with a light scent that doesn’t scream laundry day! I do not like the new scent at all, it lingers everywhere and I did my first load and my whole house smells of it. Sadly for the first time in 40 plus years I need to fine a new laundry soap. I have I get rid of the headache I got from the new scent first.
I've suffered from chronic migraines for years, which are triggered and exacerbated by perfumed products, including detergents, and so have used fragrance-free detergents for a long time. A couple of years ago, I was so happy to find that I could tolerate the light, pleasant fragrance of Tide Original Powder, and have used it ever since! However, I opened my latest box and have been so disappointed in the change that's been made to the fragrance. I find it extremely cloying, and I'm concerned that I won't be able to use it if it triggers migraine headaches for me. Please consider going back to the previous formula. Thank you.
I recently switched back to Tide Powder Detergent because I wasn't satisfied with my other laundry detergent and I wanted to use Tide as my overall household cleaner for washing floors, cupboards etc. Like most reviewers I was incredibly disappointed to open the box and discover that the "Original Scent" is nothing like the Tide Original that I grew up with! Old posts online suggested that Mountain Spring was the "new Original scent" but when it was available you couldn't buy it in the powder laundry detergent. Now it looks like that scent is discontinued too. It's ridiculous that a major brand would change the scent of it's products when you have decades of dedicated customers who had zero complaints. Now instead of just adding to your scent line-up you've alienated your most loyal customers. Deeply disappointed doesn't even describe it for me.
People, you need to really go back and revisit the powder especially if you have a high efficiency machine. First of all its more environmentally friendly with a cardboard box and less water in the manufacturing process. Second, have you looked at amounts? You need only a little bit. Next, it dissolves beautifully!! Now this is where I had issue in the past, I’d find some undissolved granules-but not anymore. And the smell is quite fresh and clean and not overpowering. Of course it deep cleans and clothes look great as always with Tide. So, I really, really think Tide Original powder is an excellent product and if you haven’t tried it recently you definitely should!
From the negative reviews here and other cleaning social media posts, you should seriously consider bringing back the old Original Acti-Lift formula. It's not just a laundry product to many, it's also a household cleaning product. I sure miss that good clean scent. This new Fast Dissolve "original" stinks. My clothes do not smell clean nor does my house after I mop. Please, I really don't want to switch to Gain. Please bring back the former scent.
I had been using Tide for at least 30 years. When you switched the original scent quite a few years ago, at least the Mountain Spring smelled like the original and I stayed with Tide. Then you switched the Mountain Spring scent, so I switched to scent free (after I used up all the old mountain spring scented liquid I had stored up.) I find the scent free pods do not clean as well. I have to use more pods than recommended to get the clothes clean. Recently, I stayed at my daughter's house. She uses the current tide original pods. I couldn't fall sleep because the sheets smelled so strongly of the detergent. And, it gave me a bad headache. I washed the sheets multiple times with scent free but could not get the smell out of the sheets. Why haven't companies learned from the Coke disaster. Don't change the formula of a popular product. Now I have to look for detergent from another company.
I’ve had issues, sensitivity to scents, etc with many detergents but this was my go to. Load after load of the tide original powder. And now it smells like garbage and my clothes seriously seem less clean. Who does that?! Go mess with your dumb pods and leave this alone. I can barely tolerate that nasty smell. There is NO reason to pick the name brand anymore.
Loyal user of 30 years and I’m stopping using Tide and throwing away whatever I have left. This new formula is beyond unbearable. I can’t stand the smell and My BODY is having an adverse reaction to it. It’s beyond awful.
I can't recall when I began using tide laundry detergent. College perhaps.. It's been at least 20 years. I now have to end this relationship. One of us changed for the worst and it wasn't me. Why, why, WHY do marketing people believe successful things MUST be changed? Did sales of original tide decrease during the pandemic? Very unlikely... Anyways, the new "improved" yet unannounced change has left me with clothes smelling so strongly I cannot wear them and have to store them in my garage. The smell began to overwhelm my entire 2400 Sq ft house with just a single laundry basket of clothes. I tried washing again with just warm water and double rimsing in both my top-load and HE machines. Natural fibers do better but I fear I'll have to donate and replace several hundred dollars of synthetic fabric athletic training clothes. I can't breath in that much smell. Who on earth convinced a corporate board this was a BETTER let alone a good idea?! We already smell like shampoo, soaps
We have been using original (boxed powder) Tide detergent for over 40 years, but I'm afraid we just can't handle this new scent anymore. My husband has been saying to me that he noticed and felt and smelled something different with our Tide and I told him it was his imagination. I have never been any fan of any scents/fragrances mostly due to my asthma, but I was used to the original (old) Tide. Our granddaughter helped us find this: Recently, we updated the formula for our Tide Original Powder, adding freshness technology for a nice scent during the laundry process and more scent after the clothes dry. Our testing and research showed us this was a great addition ........ A PERFUME SYSTEM UPGRADE? So many people have so many different allergies and so many establishments are trying to adopt fragrance-free policies. We understand that many folks like to smell like a bottle of fragrance and that's why there's Axe and Gain laundry detergent and other potent options. Couldn't you have kept your foo-foo fragrances in your other products/models and LEFT ORIGINAL TIDE ALONE?? PLEASE GO BACK TO THE WAY THIS HAS BEEN FORMULATED FOR THE LAST FEW DECADES. We have been soooooo disappointed in your re-formulation the last several months. Make it Tide ORIGINAL Powder Laundry Detergent again :-)
I am not sure if Tide is trying to pull a “New Coke” marketing scheme, by selling a truly horrible overwhelming scent. In other words, Tide needs to bring back the original scent, a Tide “Classic” if you will. I really don’t want to go to a less effective laundry soap brand, but I must if Tide thinks that this is the correct way to go.
I recently decided to go back to an old favorite and was in for a surprise. When I opened the box there was a new scent and it’s horrible. Honestly, it stinks to me and apparently a lot of other people who loved the old scent. If we want to use febreeze we could add it ourselves or offer it with the febreeze scent you like. I beg you to change it back to the original. I looovvveeeddd the way it made my clothes smell without adding all of these new additives. Listen to your customers and go back to the old recipe please. You may lose more consumers.
I have been using Tide powder for 10 years - the scent was light, loved that the packaging wasn’t plastic, and my clothes always came out clean. The new scent is so overpowering and nearly impossible to get out of my clothes. As a healthcare worker who relies on neutral scents and adequate cleaning power when washing my scrubs, Tide had never let me down, until the scent was changed. I’ve had multiple patients express how strong and off putting my clothes smell, which is the last thing I want to think about when caring for sick individuals. I’m sorry to say you’ve lost another customer.
For the past couple decades, Tide Original has been the only laundry detergent I’ve been able to use that didn’t make me sick due to rare autoimmune disorders and fragrance allergies. The original sent was mild enough that it didn’t trigger any major reactions, and clothes after washed and dried did not have any lingering scents. Today I opened the new box thinking it was the same one I had grown to love. Right away I was shocked at the difference in fragrance. Thinking it was my imagination, I proceeded to do a couple loads. The wet clothes had an unpleasant odor, and when dried was even worse. I am in process of re-washing with baking soda and odor remover for the third time to try and get the scent out of the clothes. I went from a love to hate relationship in the blink of an eye. I’ve been practically in tears since I just spent $60 on two of the giant boxes, and don’t know what I’m going to do to find another detergent. It’s not easy when you have problems with major sensitivities and allergic reactions to things like this. I bid a sad farewell to Procter
Every stitch of my clothing, since birth 51 yrs ago, has been washed in Tide Originsl powder. I stayed true to Tide even when I was broke in college and refused to use lesser, cheaper brands. I'm an "all natural, organic" consumer but I refuse to give up my Tide. That's how much I loved Tide. But, NOW, I'm seriously looking for another detergent because they've changed the scent and it's unbearable. The smell of freshly cleaned sheets made my family excited to go to sleep. It's pretty bad when my three kids 9-13 asked me what's wrong with the sheets and want them changed because the smell like bad perfume. Please, Tide, please go back to the true original scent! I rather smell essential oil based detergent than whatever this new scent is.
I've loved using Tide powder for more than just my laundry, but now I am in search for a new all-purpose cleaner. The newly formulated Original scent is extremely unpleasant and it lingers in the clothes when I wash them. I am wasting money and electricity and time because I am running an extra rinse/spin cycle on all my clothes to help minimize the smell (this works a little bit). If Tide listens to its customers and scraps this scent, this once-loyal customer will come back.
To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. I have been a loyal Tide Powder Detergent user for over 20 years and recently after purchasing a box I noticed a difference in scent and thought it was a fluke until my husband purchased another box and confirmed my Suspicions. The new scent is overwhelming and the aftermath of the scent after washing is not the same. Tide powder detergent is the reason I loved doing laundry and made it one of my favorite chores to do now that is all gone. Please go back to the original scent I don’t want to have to change my laundry detergent.
Growing up, we never used Tide because my mom was allergic. I’ve used many different brands. I tried just about every treatment and remedy to get sweat stains out with no change. Even the very expensive Persil. On a whim, I tried Tide powder. Imagine my surprise when it took out the sweat stains! No pretreat or anything. I always thought Tide was overhyped but it really does work. Also took a consistent dinginess out of my white bath towels. I don’t know why everyone is harping about the scent. I do not find it overpowering or offensive at all. It smells fine to me and I usually oppose heavy scents. Cheap FOCA and Ariel detergent smells way stronger and offensive to me. Tide does NOT leave a lingering odor. Only a faintly clean scent. I like Tide powder and will use it from now on.
I have been using original Tide powder all my life, but no longer. The new smell nauseates me. In fact I had to set it outside after I opened it. I am actually glad to hear that you changed the scent, because I was wondering if it smelled different because I had Covid a few months ago. I liked the fact that the old Tide had very little residual smell. New scent gives me a headache.
Can't be in the house while laundry is being done! I agree don't fix what ain't broken. Already purchased another product because of the smell.
We have been using tide for decades and liked the mild clean smell. The changes now keep making me think my clothes have gone sour. No Bueno
Original Tide has been my only go-to for years- however, now that there is an unpleasant nauseating scent (I had to air out the car after first picking it up at Costco - grateful for their return policy) I have no idea what to do ….. already stocked up on as many boxes of the ORIGINAL original I could find - please, CHANGE IT BACK!!!!!!!!!
I have always loved tide for both laundry and household cleaning… I recently bought a box after my huge Costco one ran out. The new smell is terrible. I loved how Tide always smelled fresh and clean. This smells really perfumed all of a sudden. I hate it. I wish the old scent would be made again.
I’ve been using Tide original scent powder for over 40 years. The recent change made to the scent is so strong and overpowering, it totally bothers my nose and smells like a cheap air freshener. Very sad that you had to change such a great and time-proven product. You’ve just lost another customer and will be seeking a refund. Please go back to your old formulation.
One of the things I loved about Tide Powder (been using it for about 50 years) was that the smell was never overpowering. Not anymore. I've stopped buying Tide and now buy another powder brand. The smell is awful and it just won't go away. I could live with it if it dissipated over time but I actually had family members ask if I was wearing some strange perfume when I wore clothes that I'd washed weeks ago! Really? What were you thinking. Maybe you want to cater to people who don't bathe?? Anyway, you've lost me and many people I've spoken with by adding this "follow you everywhere" smell. Bad decision.
I have been a Tide original powder user for more years than I can remember. I liked it that it didn’t have much fragrance as I am allergic to many perfumes. I am disappointed with this product and will have to find another brand to use. Please bring back the original formula!
I bought a new box of tide and noticed that while the same size and weight box used to include 180 loads and now only covers 143. If you examine the instructions on both boxes, you see that a medium load used to require 1/5 cup and now requires 1/4 cup. Is the new formula less effective and therefore requires more? Or is the change just designed to get consumers to use and purchase more detergent than necessary? This is not the first time tide has done this. A few years ago the same box provided more than 200 loads.
Have been using Tide for years and always loved the scent of clean sheets after a wash. Just bought a new box and find the scent much more perfumie and off putting, that I had to air out my sheets. WILL NOT BUY THIS AGAIN! Sad they have to change a good thing...
I’ve been a huge fan of Tide original powder for about 30 years. They apparently changed the scent in late 2021 and now it’s overpowering, cloying and sweet. I had to put the boxes out in the garage for the night before returning them to Costco. Bring back the old scent! This new one STINKS.
I am curious if the change in scent has to do with the change in formula. And if this is due to “shrinkflation.” I went to replace my previous Costco box with a new one and noticed that the old box said 180 loads while the new box said 143 loads. And it smells different. So maybe it’s just full of filler now that is causing a “new” scent.
The new scent is so strong it is horrific! I switched from the powder to the liquid, and it is the same thing. The scent makes me sneeze when I dispense the product. Then when I dry my clothes, it is even worse, the whole house smells. Then I think I am in the clear until I wear my clothes, and the scent will just not go away. I have been using Tide for 30 years. I will be switching to a new detergent. Sorry, but you have lost a long-time customer.
I already wrote one review on how terrible the smell is but now I must write another review. Not only is the smell horrible but it lingers and is giving me a migraine headache. I have been a faithful Tide user for 40 years and loved how it smelled. It was a clean fresh smell that was mild and pleasing to the senses. This new "Original" Tide has an overpowering perfume smell that permeates everything. In desperation I tried Tide Clean Breeze and it was even worse. It was mentioned by the manufacturer to try Tide Mountain Spring - that this is closer to the original smell. I will try it but I will probably have to stop using Tide since they are likely using this new fragrance technology in all of their products. When I was at the store today looking for another brand to try I noticed ALL the scents were overpowering --- even more so than Tide. Sadly even the more natural brands are also doing crazy strong scents. Who decided we want to smell like strong lingering perfume???
Nobody likes the new scent. Been using tide for decades and now will be returning the new box to Costco and using something else. Also have been breaking out a lot on my body right after I started using this new box (which is something I haven’t had an issue with my entire life). Will not buy another ride product until the old formula is brought back.
The best thing about the old Tide original was the fact the smell was clean and faint. No one needs horrible scents to make their clothes cleaner. The smell in my laundry room makes me want to vomit. Why did you fix something that wasn't broken
I thought I was having a problem with my sense of smell until I read the scent was changed. The box was in the trunk of my car and the awful smell was overwhelming as I drove home. I’m using it with an extra rinse, but I will try a different brand of detergent next time. The product was fine before so why the change? For a product this expensive I expect much better.
I have been using Tide Original Powder for 15 years. It has seen me though babies, cloth diapers, grass and food stains, and everything in between. I’ve always loved that it cleaned amazingly well and smelled fresh but not overpowering. I recently had the unfortunate experience of buying a Costco-sized box of the new formula/scent and I am so disappointed. The smell is awful - it’s like a mix of cat litter and urine? I thought maybe I just got a bad batch so bought another box at Target. Same thing. I am now on the hunt for a new powder detergent. Please, please, PLEASE bring back the old scent/formula. Your loyal customers deserve it!!
The new scent of Tide is terrible! Bring back the original tide scent we all loved
Why change? The floral and fruit notes, stink! No one wants this in their laundry!
I have used Tide my entire life and it was perfect and now it has been ruined by a strong offensive new sent that gives me a headache. I can’t use it anymore - it’s so sad - it was my favorite detergent for decades.
I've been using Tide HE powdered detergent for years and years. I avoid GAIN because it's scent is nauseating. Now I've got to find another product. Not everyone likes scented clothing and, well, you've managed to "take the cake" of messing up a perfect product. I'll be looking for another brand.
New scent on Tide original powder is too powerful. What were you thinking? The change is not good.
The new tide powder box does not have the lip that would seal the box anymore. When I pull the tab to open the box it stays open all the time does not over lap anymore. I have to take all the powder out of the new box and put in the old box.
I have used and loved Tide powder for years. My most recent box has an awful perfume smell. I’m very sensitive to scents and will be returning the box and finding a new product to use. I’m very disappointed.
I have used Tide exclusively for 25 years. The new scent is way too strong and perfume-y. Bring back the fresh scent you have always had!
I noticed the new tide smell when I put on my first mask washed in it. Thought it was different but didn’t think much of it. That day my face broke out in a rash. That rash soon went down my neck and into my scalp. Then I noticed that I was all around itchy all day. Especially at night in my sheets. I couldn’t figure out what was going on and then thought it might have something to do with that new smell. Sure enough, googled it and it lead me to these reviews. Apparently the new formula is more than just an obnoxious smell. Rewashed my sheets in a free and clear detergent last night and finally didn’t itch. Now I need to go through my house and rewash everything. Luckily I was able to return my nearly full container to Costco. Too bad it changed as I’ve been using Tide for years!
The new smell is nothing like the original, im incredibly disappointed bc i just bought 102 loads worth of this powder. i don’t always use powder detergent so i actually still have some of the original scent; it’s incredible how different it is; and honestly it just doesn’t smell like laundry to me anymore
How many bad reviews and lost customers will it take for P
I have used Tide Original powder detergent for a number of years and was surprised to find that the last box I purchased has a STRONG and VERY UNPLEASANT scent. I do not understand why this change has been made to what was a very good product. Labeling it as Tide Original is misleading. I'm planning to return this box to the store and look for a different brand of laundry detergent. Please consider offering the previously labeled Tide Original product again!
I have LOVED Tide powder for many years. It works better than anything and I've enjoyed the original scent. However, you have amped up the scent and it is way too strong. It lingers far too long and is no longer nice. Sadly, I will be switching to another detergent.
I was a lifelong Tide user but the 2022 scent "upgrade" is unbearable. It makes the whole house stink. Change it back! Until you do, you have lost this customer.
We won’t be buying tide again until the old scent comes back.
This product is essentially unusable for my family now. After using nothing but this for a decade, we can't stand the smell and it just cakes up in my washer's detergent dispenser. It's honestly fascinating (and not in a good way) that it can cause the amount of stink it does when so little of it reaches the actual laundry. I used it on our bedding and it's been triggering my husband's allergies to the point of misery. Why fix what didn't need fixing? Was it even tested before being put it into production?
I have used TIDE HE powder for 23 years…..and just opened a box of the new improved quick dissolving formula…..it SMELLS horrible and is over powering, and does NOT dissolve quickly… in fact it does not dissolve…..it cakes up in my dispenser! If this is the improvement, then I will be switching to a different detergent! I am not sure why P
I LOVE Tide powder, it works better than anything and I've used it for years. However, I just bought a new box and finally got the god awful new scented stuff that EVERYONE I KNOW HAS BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT. The bad news was accurate, my entire basement stinks of it. It's giving me headaches and I will sadly be returning to my previous brand.
I have used tide for years because it was the only scented detergent that didn’t trigger scent related migraines for me. After the liquid changed the scent a couple years ago you recommended the powder. I have used that until just recently when I opened up my latest huge box from Costco and discovered the change. I know have 2 180 load boxes I can’t use without getting a migraine. As a family of 7 I do about 20 loads of laundry a week and now will have to go back to scent free detergent:(
I have used Tide Original Powder laundry detergent for years. It has been a wonderful product to use. I just finished up a large box and opened a new one today. Immediately upon opening I could tell something was different - an overpowering smell was coming from the new box. The smell is not a pleasant one. I am very unhappy with this - I guess I will need to find a new detergent and I hope I can get my money back from this purchase. It's a shame Tide changed this product!
We have always used powdered tide and the smell was always good, not too strong but just enough to give a clean laundry scent after drying. Im sensitive to smells so this is a big factor for me since I easily get migraines. The new smell is TERRIBLE. It’s incredibly perfumey and floral, instant headache. What a mistake though, definitely never purchasing again unless the scent is changed back.
We’ve been using Orignal Tide powder for ages, because it works great and smelled nice. The new scent is horrible. It smells like cheap perfume or air freshener and gives me an instant headache. The old scent was so light and never gave me headaches. The new one lingers on everything, including my baby’s skin which never used to happen. It completely ruined two bibs (I’ve soaked them in vinegar, rewashed them, etc — nothing makes it better). I will never buy this again (unless the old scent is restored). Super disappointing since it works so well.
40 year Tide customer. Count me as another unsatisfied customer. I, like many others, have been using Tide original powder for many, many years. After opening my most recent box from Costco, I about fell over from the overpowering scent. I decided to go ahead and was a load even though I did not like the smell of the soap. Boy, what a mistake! This new Tide stunk up the whole house with a horrible, sickening, flowery perfume scent! And, please don't try to tell me to try Mountain Spring or any other version of this soap. I would love to continue using Tide powder but cannot with this current version. Please listen to these customer reviews and bring back the old reliable Tide powder. Remember when they tried to change the Coca-Cola formula?
Please put the "original" smell back in the Tide powder. Just bought a new box and this change is so disappointing. Had to start using dye and fragrance free Downey for the same reason.
I used to use Tide.....then I got the latest batch.....and it STINKS. It almost gets WORSE after my clothing has been washed! I do not want to smell my laundry.....that's the whole reason I wash it. Clean laundry should NOT have an odor...and I certainly do NOT want my whole family smelling of Tide as we walk out the door! Does it get the clothes clean, yes.....but I'm afraid my whole family will wind up with headaches from the Tide stench... Really disappointed and now I'm stuck with a giant Costco sized box.
The primary reason I’ve insisted on original powder Tide for decades was its non-intrusive scent. The mild scent is what better than all other brands and all other versions of Tide. The change you made is overpowering and horrible. Hopefully Costco will let me return this gigantic box.
Bought my usual full size powder detergent at Costco and upon opening it.. Whoosh, STRONG NEW SMELL! I didn't think much of it until my entire family started complaining of itchy irritated skin and I'm on my 3rd "girl area issue" in as many months. So disappointing!!! Come on Tide. I was a loyal user because of the mild smell you had before!! This new change frankly sucks. Looking for a new detergent now.
I have been a loyal Tide user since growing up in my mother’s house. My dad worded for P
When they changed the scent of the original scent liquid detergent I switched to powder but now they’ve changed that too! I hate the new scent which smells like cheap, over powering air freshener. This is especially an issue when washing towels and sheets as I have very sensitive skin and the perfume makes me itchy. I just bought a new giant box from Costco (they last me for more than a year) and now I don’t know what to do with it. I’ve been using tide my entire life as has my mother but this change has made us both look for other brands with less cloying scents. Wish they would just change it back. This marketing decision was clearly not focus group tested enough and needs to be reversed.
The new scent is the horrible! My clothes and home smell terrible. The smell is worse than rotting garbage. Please change back to the original.
I was a big fan of powdered original tide, buying big boxes of it at Costco sometimes many at a time (Cloth diaper household- we do a lot of laundry!). The new scent is SO STRONG and lingers on everything. The laundry room is behind my office, so now I don't want to do laundry while I work since it lingers in the air. We're going to switch brands when we use up what we have.
I just opened a new box of powdered Tide and can’t believe how awful it smells. Like cheap car freshener. This happened awhile ago with the Tide pods and I had to switch to unscented fresh and clear (not sure if they ended up switching back to the original scent). So sad this is now happening with powdered Tide which I use on everything from laundry to household cleaning. Throwing away a brand new box and hoping they announce a return to the original scent. Until then, I won’t be able to purchase.
Hello - I too have been using Tide powder for several years and been happy with the performance of the product. I recently purchased what I thought was the same Tide Power (rated for HE washers) and am overwhelmed by the heavily perfumed smell emanating from the clothes that I have washed. I am not one to be affected by odors but I can tell you, this is so heavily scented, it is really awful and it definitely is bothering me! Especially when I wash my re-wearable face masks. It is terrible and I too with all these other customers urge you to return to the other formula. #ifitaintbroke !!
Longtime Tide customers at Costco. Last purchase was overwhelmingly strong, and my fragrance-sensitive wife was choking and wheezing all day. Never again!
I have been using tide for over 20 years and have been very happy with it. This new scent change is terrible. The detergent itself smells like cheap air freshener, but I have found that the clothes I have been washing in it have a foul odor when I remove them from my dresser to wear. I never had this problem with the old original Tide. My clean clothes smell sour and foul. Please bring back the old Tide.
I’ve been loyal to Tide since 1990. The most recent giant Costco box is the last I will purchase, and I will probably return this one. The new scent is horrible, why would you change it? Tide had such a wonderful unique smell before, I would have bought it even if it cleaned horribly.
The new "original" scent of Tide powder is simply awful. I opened a new box from Sam's Club and the smell was overwhelmingly strong. I washed one load in it, and the scent after washing and rinsing twice is still embedded in the fabric. I'm trying to strip the smell off this load of clothes by re-washing in baking soda and rinsing with white vinegar added. This box will either go back to the store, or I'll give it away to whomever wants it. If I can't get the REAL original scent of Tide, I'll switch to another detergent. What a waste of $30.
There scent is horrific ! I've never had a reaction to any detergent or fragrance in my life, but I do to this new tide fragrance! The scent is absolutely way too strong, how this passed testing I have no idea. It is disgusting. I shocked that a top company like this would change such a good product to such an awful one. Tide is losing customers fast unless they change it back
I have used the original tide power all my life. I am so disappointed in the new scent change. It’s over powering and gives me a headache. It’s also breaking my toddler and I out. Sadly we will be no longer using this product for our family.
I’ve tried looking for the original scent - the box that says ActiLift and nothing… please Tide bring it back!!!! The new box that says “clean dissolve” is awful smelling and I just bought a huge box from Costco ugh! I’m glad I’m not the only one that disagrees.
I just opened a new box (large size from Costco's) of the Tide Original Powder laundry detergent and it STINKS. I washed my clothes in it thinking that it couldn't be THAT bad. I've had a severe headache and my eyes are burning from the overpowering fragrance ever since I hung my clothes up to dry. I'll be returning this to Costco for a full refund. Bye bye, Tide! I've used you for years because of the clean and fresh smelling clothes that resulted, but THIS SMELL is too much. Never using your products again.
I have used for Tide for years. Disappointing that such an overpowering, new scent has been incorporated. If we don't get accustomed to it when this box runs out, we will have to look for alternatives.
I have been using tide powder for years for all of my family’s laundry. I just opened a new box and the smell is different. I usually buy a couple at a time from Costco, so I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but to say I’m disappointed is an understatement. At least we’re done cloth diapering so I can change detergents without worrying about that wash routine. Trying to decide if I slog through the whole (Costco sized) stinky box before switching or try to give it away instead.
I've been using tide original powder for a while now and everything was going good until the most recent box I got after September when they reformulated. I use gain at my house but once a week when I do cloth diaper/underwear laundry at my mom's I use tide in her machine because gain is too sudsy for her machine. I've noticed when I wear my underwear that's been washed in tide I get a terrible rash and chemical burns on my genitals that cause my skin to peel. My baby has been having redness in tide washed garments too. It's really frustrating because I just got this box and it's the Sam's Club size which lasts months
I am beyond disappointed. I have used Tide Powder for decades and always loved that the scent was fresh but not overwhelming as we tend to be sensitive to added fragrance. Well, I was horrified when I opened and used a new box of Tide that I had been buying all along. It is so strong and the scent lingers on the clothes that it is making us sick! I bought a new box thinking, hoping, it was fluke. Nope, same. Ugh- we won't be able to use Today anymore due to this significant change. I am so upset.
I wanted to switch back to tide powder as I have fond memories of the Original Scent my grandmother used to use. After purchasing and realizing the smell had changed, I did some digging around to find Tide changed their scent a couple years back. This new smell is awful. I’m switching back to Purex.
The smell is completely different! What happened?? I know hundreds of people on FB who say the same. Why change the product?
Tide has been my tried and true for some time now. It has been the only detergent to actually keep my clothes clean and fresh, without terrible fragrance that negatively impacted my skin. I also use it to clean my home, my car, my shoes...literally everything. The most recent scent change to the powdered tide was a terrible decision - it smells like a wannabe Gain laundry detergent - just too over powering and off putting. I appreciate that it cleans well, however, I just cannot smell this all of the time, as it gives me a terrible headache. I could understand adding a new scent to the collection, but not changing a well-loved product that had no issues to begin with. Very disappointing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
You have changed the formula in September of 2021, again, without letting the consumer know. The smell is SO OBNOXIOUS it makes the whole house stink. When you changed the formula years back it was bad enough but this is just ridiculous. WHAT is wrong with your "original" formula?
Died all the way always use it always well, even for mopping my floor it’s the best with some hot water
If you’re a fan of #GoCleanCo then you know how magical powdered Tide is. It works so much better than liquid laundry detergent or the pods. The liquid laundry detergent is diluted with so much unnecessary water that it doesn’t have the same type of strength as powdered tide. It may seem old school but make the switch! Trust me! #BleachPrayLove
I used this for everything from clothes to toilets to floors. Good clean scent. Love this classic.
I use the stuff all the time! I use it to clean my house and in laundry! It’s like magic in a box! I feel like there is not a stain this can’t get out! It’s always amazing to clean bathrooms, floors, shoes, I mean it you can use this for anything! I highly recommend using this!!
Powder tide is just as good as the liquid. I initially made the switch to be more environmentally friendly since there is no plastic. But I found that the powder was on average cheaper and stronger than the liquid. Works best in warm or hot and longer cycles, but I have done 30 minute delicate cycles with it and there was no residues on my clothes. I like to mix it with oxiclean for a really powerful presoak.
Nice smell, keep my clothes clean and giving and nice final smell! I was using Ariel until I found this Tide brand
There is no better clean than Tide clean. The smell has some what changed over to years in my opinion but the cleaning power is still unmatched.
This is one of the best detergents ever and it’s probably the only one I use consistently. I also use this to clean the rest of my house thanks to Instagram and it’s definitely noticeable. This thing is a powerhouse when it comes to cleaning and laundry!
I use this for laundry but I actually use it more often for cleaning! Follow @gocleanco on Instagram for all of her amazing tips! A little sprinkle of this in some hot water and it works wonders on all your household cleaning!!
Love this brand i always repurchase and go back it makes my clothes feel so clean and i can tell the difference i alternate between this one and the powder version its affordable for the amount you get i would recommend.
I use Tide with my spin mop when I clean the floors! They always look so good! One product with more than one use;). This is a cleaning hack game changer!
I use tide powder for everything except my kids laundry! Need to mop the floor? Tide powder! Need to clean the tub? Tide! Mix it with water and a little bleach and BOOM better than any other cleaning products. My laundry gets clean and the scent isn't too strong.
We used Tide around the firehouse for all kinds of things when I was a firefighter. They still do. I remember when we sanded down and then painted our 1971 Mack Ladder Truck (Ladder 26). The first thing we did, before we started sanding, was wash it with 140 degree water dosed with Tide Powdered Laundry Detergent. We used dish gloves to protect our hands from the hot water. We did our laundry in it too.
I use this for way more than laundry. Mix in hot water with a little bleach and it is the best multi-purpose householder cleaner ever. Tubs, tile floors, walls, counters, etc it will clean anything! Cuts through kitchen grease easily!
We have been using tide for a couple of years now. It makes the clothes clean sometimes and at times not too clean. I usually purchase the bucket one.
Not only is it great for clothes but I use as a cleaner mixed with water and bleach all over my house.
This product has so many uses. I love using it with bleach to clean my floors. Also great for cleaning ovens. I highly recommend this product to everyone.
I love using powder detergents and this is by far my favorite. The smell is amazing and lasts a long time. This is a product which I would definitely recommend. This product is very affordable so it’s amazing.
I recently came across the account for Go Clean Co on Instagram and have learned the wonders that is powder Tide. I’ve honestly never been a big fan of powdered laundry detergents but after learning of the enzymes that help really break down dirt and grime, I am a convert! And not just for laundry. Actually less for laundry and more for general cleaning. Check out their account for more info! Water, bleach, Tide will forever be a staple in my home. It is amazing what it can do for almost anything!
I don’t understand why my clothes smell so bad. This is something I would expect from a store brand detergent, not from tide
The BEST detergent for tough stains and getting clothes clean! We use this for our son’s cloth diapers and it cleans so well and gets everything out!! Might be spendy, but it lasts a long time!
For years the smell of the original Tide was something that I always looked forward to. I finally am able to afford to buy Tide powder again only to find out it is NOT the same! I'll finish up the box that I just bought but will be switching to something else. So sad.
New "original" scent. How can Original have a New smell. I have just in the last few months been able to buy the Original powder. I loved it. So fresh so clean .Covid 19 days ..I have had touse fowl STRONG FAKE smells like your competitors have. They were making me have headaches. TIDE was fresh and clean BUT NOT now. I willbuse my new box but will hang clothes outside to dry to air out the smell. Disappointed to say the least. Would have given TIDE Origianl a 5 ⭐ if the scent had stayed the same.
The new lipless box is a perfect example of penny wise, pound foolish. Because this new box basically exploded powder all over the place when I opened the it, I am now thinking it is time to reconsider Tide which I have used for decades, So while P

I use this for everything. Stains, carpet stains, floors, walls. It cuts through dirt like a champ.
This has been my same detergent for years. It gets the job done, and it leaves my clothes smelling fresh
I’ve been using Tide Original he powder for years. In the past, you pull the tab around the top of the box to open, revealing a double layer of cardboard that nests when the box is closed (part of the inner layer stays with the box and the outer layer stays with the lid) - which allowed the box to seal and stay closed. The new box only has a single layer at the lid, so it doesn’t really close at all. It’s like an open beaked baby bird waiting for a worm. It is super annoying since the box is so full (which from a visual indicator of value seems awesome) it spills all over when you scoop detergent or shift the box on the counter (which is not so awesome):(. I want my old box back. I seriously considered doing a recycling bin dumpster dive to get my last box back to transfer the new soap to the old box. I didn’t, but it was a near thing. A week later I’m regretting my squeamishness....
1) Opening the box - the side strip you pull. Well the detergent spills out as the detergent level is higher then the cut line. Had to put in another container. 2) How much to use is confusing: level 1 for medium load, level three for large load and then level 5 for Full HE load. So do the 1,3 (med and large) apply to the HE front loaders? You web site says the same. Call to clarify and trhe person did not not know the answer. 3) The detergent does not mix well - Front load HE has top compartment for detergent where water flows at start that pulls the detergent into the machine. Well it does not mix well as the clothes on top get detergent residue. So should I put the detergent (say half of it) before the clothes?
This stuff is so much more convenient and efficient than liquid detergent! No mess from dripping soap, and you’re able to use much less than liquid soap.
I use powder tide for everything!!! Cleans your clothes, your floors, counters, tubs, whatever!! Follow @gocleanco on iG
As a member of the GoCleanCo Cleaning Army, I use powdered tide for everything. Laundry, washing the walls, everything. The smell is great, it gets all kinds of stains up from any surface and it lasts forever!
Love this for cleaning! 1 tsp in a gallon of hot water and you’ve got yourself a GREAT cleaning solution! (Thanks, GoCleanCo!) Great for laundry and bonus...the smell is wonderful!
This is the best detergent hands down. I follow go clean Co and they reccomend this for seriously everything. It’s the only thing I can use for my boys clothes to keep them clean, bright and stain free!
I don’t use this for laundry all that often but I do use it to clean everything in my house. GoCleanCo on Instagram taught me everything I know. #WaterBleachandTide
I’m old school and love this powder. A little goes a long ways and it has that great tide scent
I exclusively buy Tide powder laundry detergent. I haven't bought other detergent in years. I use less than recommended, and my clothes always come out perfectly, always using cold water. I love that it's not only easier to deal with, it lasts longer because of the size, and it's a greener option because the container is cardboard instead of plastic. I will continue to buy Tide detergent!
I switched to powder when I started doing cloth diapers and never switched back because I feel it gives a much better cleaning job than others!
The amount of cleaning you can do with tide powder is mind blowing - not just for laundry! Highly recommend following GoCleanCo on Ig for suggestions but works fantastic on clothes, floors, walls - you name it!
Once I saw GoCleanCo on Instagram I had to buy Tide! This stuff is magical! It gets ride of stains off of everything! I use it to clean everything around the house too! I love the smell and the price is great too!
Always stick to the same product, for decades. I like the powder, because it seems like my clothes don’t have a film on those. Maybe it’s just my imagination, but I like the clean from the powder better.
I’ve been using Tide powder for about 7 months now. This last box I purchased with acti lift must have been very potent that it left bleach spots all over my new towels and on a few clothes items.
Best detergent ever!!! I don’t know why it took me so long so try but omg I’ll never go back. Tide is great for clothing, and cleaning @gocleanco for life!!! If you know you know if not check them out on Instagram!
Tide Original Powder is one of the most used cleaning agents in our house at this point. We use it not only for laundry, but for mopping the floors, and cleaning other upholstered items. It is a very affordable option for the various uses it provides and for the efficiency. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new detergent or cleaning option.
I have been washing my family's clothes for twenty-five (25) years. I have tried almost every premium laundry detergent. While others are good, Tide Powder is the best cleaner and leaves a fresh fragrance. P & G cannot improve on perfection.
I’ve gone back to the old fashioned powder detergent. I’ve noticed our clothes are cleaner without all the thickeners that are put into the liquid. I just think the powder works better. My only complaint is that it doesn’t dissolve well in cold water and I would like that to be an option for some items.
This is amazing! Not only does this leave my clothes smelling great and clean, it can also be used to clean household items! I mix it with some warm water and it can clean anything from stove tops to sneakers. Add some bleach and you can make your floors sparkling!
We cloth diaper so having a detergent that can actually get the clothes clean is important. With tide powder it lasts a long time and it cleans well.
This is the literal best. There are so many uses for powdered Tide! I obviously use it in my laundry, I also use it to clean my shower!
I am the biggest fan of tide and of powder detergent so it’s fail proof to combine them! This has been my go to detergent for the past year and for the price you get a ton of loads!
I have tried all kinds of different laundry detergent. Where we live the water is very hard has a lot of phosphorus in it. Using original tide my clothes don’t look as dingy and come out clean. Even my husband’s greasy work clothes come out clean.
I use this tide powder to clean my entire house! Thanks to one Instagram account during quarantine I changed my entire cleaning routine.
Just started using the powder again after like 20 years. The scent seems to be the true original scent. It does a great job cleaning. Tide is the best.
60 y/o fondly remembers helping Mom (who only used Tide) with the wash because I loved the smell of the clean laundry so much. The fresh smell began to fade in the late 90s, but it is now g.o.n.e. Worse yet, I realized about 5 years ago my whites were turning gray so I had to start using additives to get my whites white and towels fresh-smelling; regardless of temp, and new machine!! What happened?! I've tried buying from various stores thinking Costco got B grade or something, but there is no difference. I've been dragging my feet not wanting to change, but the quality has not kept up with the price so it is time to cut loose. If I have to use additives, I may as well buy cheaper detergent. Strange as it sounds, I feel like I'm leaving an old friend. Tide has been part of my life for a long time. Sad!
This is my favorite laundry detergent. I not only use it as detergent, but I also use it as an all purple cleaner. This is an affordable product and lasts a long time. I love the smell and the way it cleans.
In my experience, tide powder is the best. The only use I have for the liquid, is to pretreat oily spots. So, pods are out. I only wish there were single usage packaging. Husband and grandkids, you know... I DO, repackage my powder into big ziplock bags, which I then place in the original carton. Less lumpy that way. AND, I measure out exactly how much is meant by the lines in the stupid scoops. (It differs by The “type” of tide... sigh). I then use a two tablespoon scoop to measure out the correct amount for my loads. OTHERWISE, I use too much, and it doesn’t rinse out properly. Even with all of that finagling, Tide powder is still (hands down) the best at cleaning my laundry!
I use cloth diapers for my son since he was 2 months old. After some trial and error with other detergents, I decided to try Tide. The enzymes in this detergent ensure that all of the poop and urine residue actually washes out. I have also noticed the powder works amazing on removing stains from all of our clothes.
Love this stuff! First off if you don’t follow gocleanco on Instagram do it now! She shows you all the ways to use this stuff! My personal favorite is cleaning the walls, sounds crazy but it works amazing!!! Also leaves the whole house smelling fresh and like you did laundry all did haha
I purchase this particularly for use on cloth diapers. It’s very effective at cleaning and the powder formula rinses very cleanly. It smells nice and fresh, but not overwhelming.
I recently purchased tide again because I’m going to be cloth diapering with this child. I fell in love again, I forgot how great the cleaning power is, it smells fantastic. It’s more expensive but I feel you don’t need to use as much as cheaper brands.
I use this for my cloth diapers . It is really the only detergent that does the best at keeping the ammonia smell away.
I’m old school when it comes to laundry! I love the smell and cleaning power! Hard pressed to get me to make any changes here
I am a fan of Tide but I purchase large boxes in bulk and this powder left residues on our clothes. I was very disappointed and I hope the other products do not.
Call me old fashioned but those tide pods everyone is using has ruined a comforter and many of expensive clothes by melting onto them. This is all I will use.
P&G: Please bring back the 80's original scent!!! You might get a BIG surprise! Your sweet versions are keeping many from buying your product!
When I opened the box, the corners tore, such that powder detergent spilled out. Once I've done a few loads the contents should be low enough to avoid further spilling, but this is a poor design.
Powdered Tide detergents are my favorite. But Original smells bad! Wish I could sample the other scents without committing to the full box.
After reading the reviews for this product, I think Americans will whine and complain about ANYTHING. They will find a way to be unhappy about ANYTHING. It is LAUNDRY DETERGENT.
Must mix powder w/hot water 2 dissolve. If I don't mix it before putting it into the machine, the clothes are left w/chunks/spots of residue leaving one to think the clothes are dirty.
After years of great laundry, now I have a smell that won't even come out after extra rinse cycle. Do you think a combo mildew/perfume smell is what people want? YUCK
I will have to find another brand since Tide changed its formula and smell. Now my clothes have a horrible mildewed smell and aren't clean. Tide PLEASE go back to the original formula and smell.
Our family has been using Tide since it hit the market..Only wish is that would go back to that clean fresh scent of the 50’s.
I have tried other detergents but I just don't get the results from other brands that I get from Tide.
I purchased the large size and that usually lasts us a year. Not this time! Stains are not coming out and clothes smelling musty, almost a mildewy smell. Tide sent me debit card to replace cost.
First time ever using a powdered detergent. I love this stuff! It made white bed sheets look brand new! It also cleans far better than the liquid and pod detergents too.
Since the formula changed, I have to use 2-3 times as much with warm water to get my clothes clean. Colors fade and clothes shrink. Changes of a good product doesn't always work.
Where can I buy the original powder Tide laundry detergent? It is gone from all the stores I shop. Nothing was better and the HE version is horrible.
Used liqd soap in old frnt ld wshr(gskt mildw in 2006 Kenmore HE4t).Oldr wshr-gasket mldw-musty laundry.Too much liqd soap? We now use Tide HE turbo pwdr-4 mo so far,Tide pwdr HE-lndry smells clean
Been using Tide for 46 years. Purchased large box of Original Tide. After several rinses, scent was permanent. Will be donating to homeless shelter. Searching for new detergent!
Tide is my detergent of choice, I started washing my own clothes when i was 10 yrs. old and every since I have tried coupons for other detergents and they all fall short of original Tide.
Ever since actilift crystals were added it doesn't perform as well at removing odors.Towels are musty and socks stink.Workout gear is still ripe and shirt armpits still reek. And this is in ANY temp.
My laundry is done but my clothes smell NOTHING.. I'm gonna return it and buy an other brand because you can get your clothes as clean and smelling better for cheaper.
Poor scent with blue crystals. NOT happy and hate what you are pushing. It is not the same. I HATE THIS ONE. I bought the original and it is NOT what you say.
So disappointed. Used to love this, but now it's so expensive and smells strong and perfume-y like all the rest. Wish I had my money back.
The new original fragrance is too sweet and sickly. The old original fragrance was much more pleasant. I will probably not buy another box.
Trying to open the Ultra Tide box put me off from using the product! The slits on top were red herrings and don't do a thing! Disappointing design.
I've always used Tide Original powder but hadn't used it in awhile due to financial constraints. Recently splurged on a box of Tide only to find that the scent has been changed to some a heavy musky odor that burns my nose and doesn't smell clean and fresh like it used to! The smell was so repulsive that I had to re-wash my laundry with another brand of detergent! I really wish P&G would bring back the PREVIOUS scent in Original Tide Powder, the one that I, and everyone I know loved! Not this terrible scent that literally makes me wanna hurl.
The fact that Tide (P&G) updated the scent in this product is enough to be troubling all by itself! But adding insult to injury by not communicating this with your consumers is just poor business! The fact that the box still says "ORIGINAL SCENT" when it's not is VERY misleading. I called Tide (P&G) today and requested a refund for this product. I would have brought it back to the store, but I already emptied it into the plastic detergent bin we keep in the laundry room and tossed the box. They are issuing a prepaid Visa card in the full amount. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that they are promoting this product as the "original scent" when it's not. I encourage everyone else who is not happy with this scent change to call in (1-800-879-8433) and get a refund, too!
We have used Tide and have been delighted with it for OVER 40 years. This week we opened another box powered HE Tide. Within a minute after unzipping the top, the OVERWHELMING SMELL hit the room. The lid was not even lifted up. We set the box in another room. The smell migrated to the whole living area. The lid was still closed. Outside it went then back to WalMart. No receipt but they graciously refunded us. Why do major companies make such changes? It wasn't a small amount of scent, it was a huge amount. What if we had washed valued clothes in this? Would even the original Tide clean that smell out? We emailed the company but never heard back. Before returning the box, we carefully compared all six sides of both boxes and there was no indication Tide was about to loose our business. If anyone knows of a power, HE that can easily be found with NO smell and reasonable cleaning power, we would like to hear rsmith@xmission.com
After having to switch from Gain, my all-time favorite detergent, I decided to give Tide Original a go, since I've always used it in the past and loved it, but usually only buy it on sale. I opened this box and quickly became disgusted. What is this overly perfume-ridden odor housed in this box? Because it surely is not Original Tide. Along with that, I still have to add a scoop of booster or Oxi to the wash and allow the clothes to soak for 30 mins or so to get even half-decent results. What happened to detergents working just fine without the need of "boosters" and additives? Don't change something if it's not broken. Leave what works alone and instead focus your attention on the things that need improvement, one of which now is this terrible smell you pass off as the "original".
I purchase Tide powder at Costco and just purchased a new box a few weeks ago. I thought maybe it was just me noticing something different about the smell after the first load. But my kids, upon smelling their laundry, immediately accused me of switching to a different brand of detergent: "Mom! Why did you switch from Tide? This smells horrible!" Horrible might be too strong a word, but the fragrance is overwhelming and unappealing. Unfortunately, we find that Tide is by far the best detergent on the market, but may be forced to switch because of the new smell. Disappointed :(
Why, Why, Why??? Why would the original scent be changed? To me it is what makes Tide Tide. The new "original" scent is way to sweet smelling. Why would the customer not be notified that a change had been made? It really needs to be changed back!!!!!
Oh how disappointed I was to open my new box of Tide He powder, original scent. When I buy Tide, I buy a large supply when it is on sale. I don't purchase frequently for this reason, maybe twice a year. Tide power is all I use because of the cleaning power and the SCENT! Ugh, this new scent is so overpowering and now my clothes smell like everyone else's, overpowering perfume. I am very aware of scents, and can smell different detergents in other people's clothes. I was always so proud that my Tide left my clothes VERY clean, and with just the right amount of clean scent. Now it is SO overpowering. Please, please change back to the true "original". Now I have a huge tub of this new scent-it's going to take forever to use this up. Idon't enjoy doing my family's laundry as much as I used to.
Tide has been used in our family since I was very young (so well over 30 years). The scent of Tide Original Powder has always been soft, almost powdery and very clean. I love it, my family loves it. It seems P & G on 07/01/2014 decided to change the scent of Tide Original Powder (he and non-he). I just cannot understand why! First April Fresh Downy softener was ruined, and now my beloved Tide Powder. So sad!!!
Just recently purchased a new GE top load HE washer, as well as a box of the Ultra Tide HE Powder. With each load that I have washed so far with the Tide powder detergent, I have had some sort of white residue left on the item being washed, in blotches or spots. The extra rinse feature was also on. To make sure it wasn't the washer I re-ran each load individually with Tide HE with Acti-Lift liquid and the residue was gone. Mind you that both detergents are being added through the HE detergent dispenser, as well as the same wash settings being used, that also goes for wash water temperature at warm water for the wash cycle or above. Please reply with help. Could I exchange the powder with you for the liquid that seems to work?
Tide is the perfect detergent for any washer and I highly recommend that you buy it. It does its job, no obnoxious fumes, and it gets my clothes clean. I have an Maytag bravos HE washer. But, if you have an HE washer, I recommend you buy Tide liquid, because sometimes the powder gets stuck in the dispenser drawer. So if you get tide for an HE, I recommend liquid, or pour the powder into the drum instead of the dispensers.
WHY WHY WHY? did you change Original Scent, Tide, HE Powder? You had a perfect product and you ruined it! What gives with the blue specs? It looks just like Tide with Bleach Powder and the new scent is too strong! Tide has been a household staple in many homes in the US since 1946 and has always been white! I will NOT be buy again!
I definitely prefer to use powder in my front loading machine. The liquids do NOT clean as well for me. I am having trouble finding stores that stock the HE Powder
Question: Why is the new scoop so short? Answer: Greed. I note some of the video reviews show people measuring out a scoop of Ultra Tide powder. And, they say they are not sure which line to use so they use a full scoop. I’ll bet there are a lot of people out there who do the same or at least use a little more than recommended because they can’t read the scoop so well. I attempted to measure the volume of the scoop so I could find an alternate that is easier to use. (Yes I am an engineer.) Since getting the detergent in the scoop level on any line is so difficult, I used water. Level 1 (medium loads) = 2 oz Level 2 (large loads) = 2.5 oz Level 3 (heavy soiled) = 4 oz A full scoop = 5 oz. If the scoop was taller and narrower, there would be much more distance between the 3 lines and you could make a more accurate measurement. If Pocter & Gamble’s goal was to help customers make an accurate measurement, the scoop would be tall and narrow. If their goal was to sell more detergent, the scoop would be short and wide. Guess which they chose? To the ladies in the videos, you are using more than twice as much detergent as recommended. That is why your videos are on the web site. P&G stock holders thank you. For the rest of us, I recommend buying a 4 ounce measuring cup and marking the levels with a sharpie. The cup will pay for itself in savings several times over on your first box.
Best to use POWDER in HE washers. Doesnt buildup in machine like some liquid detergents do...causing mold. Bosch recomends powder.
When I purchased the new washer, I used tide as it was the only one in the area available that was rated HE. I was concerned and didn't want to leave the brand I've been become accustomed too but thought what a better time to try something new and I was glad that I did. The clothes come out great! I was sad to see that it didn't come fragrance free given my sensitive skin -- it didn't irritate my skin but I prefer not to have the smell -- although I'm getting accustomed to it
I have used liquid Tide for over 20 yrs. & was always happy with it. I bought my 1st HE machine about 10 yrs. ago & replaced it about 3 yrs. ago. I always used liquid Tide HE in it but my towels, especially, had a funny odor to them. I cleaned my washer each month as instructed by my serviceman but the smell was always there. I would eventually get rid of them & buy new. Then about a year ago I read that it could be caused by the liquid detergent & to try the Tide HE powder. After the 1st load the towels I was about to get rid of smelled fresh again!!! I never went back!! I LOVE TIDE HE DETERGENT!!!! But like some others I am having a hard time finding it. Please continue to make it!! I have been checking the stores you have listed in my area but it must be in short supply right now.
I agree with everything Chris305 said on July 17th... I had the exact same experience and I am frustrated that I have such a hard time finding this product in stores near me!!!
There is a huge community of cloth diapering moms who are loyal original Tide users and now very disappointed Ultra Tide users. I'm one of those dissatisfied moms. Ultra Tide is not getting my diapers completely clean. Ammonia builds up in the diapers; something that never occurred with the old formula. I have had to compensate with bleach and oxyclean, which are annoying additional steps and complicate my laundry routine. Please don't discontinue the old formula. Provide the original formula Tide powder HE as an option for us old school folks.
Tide keeps my cloths fresh for weeks. It almost makes me what to do laundry 24/7!!
The new Ultra Tide just isn't cutting it for us. Regardless of water temperature and type of clothing, I have to use more than the recommended amount to get things clean. I'm wasting so much money, having to use extra detergent. I'm finishing up what I have, and searching for a new HE powdered detergent.
I too experienced this "Suds" reading on my HE washing machine. I was told by my Sears repair tech that it is NOT the detergent, it is a sensor on my machine going out. Sears will be here in the morning to replace the sensor. Just thought this might help someone else who is experiencing this issue. LOVE MY TIDE!! Wish I could get it in the powder at my store.
My laundry used to have a faint moldy smell after being washed. I tried everything from cleaning tablets to using bleach with the clean cycle. Nothing worked. Then I tried the Tide HE Powder Detergent and the smell practically vanished with the first load! Tide powder HE works 100% better than liquid HE for me. The clothes smell just like they used to with the regular washer I had and they actually feel cleaner. The only problem is that the powder formula is hard to find and the store I buy it from only carries regular scent. Please send and make more powder HE scents and make bigger packages! Thanks!
The new concentrated powder seems to be causing the blue dye in our clothes (even the old ones) to run and stain other clothes repeatedly. Never had this problem before with Tide HE powder. I have a front loading machine and use the correct amount in cold water. What's wrong?
I have been I tide user since I can remember. It does a wonderful job. I just wish I did not have so much trouble finding the large load boxes. I was getting at it at Walmart which is about 13 miles from me. but my last visit they were out or not did not have it. I found it at BJ's, which is about 20 miles from me. I only want powder! Why can't I get it at Costo and Sams?
I like this product because it cleans clothes well in my HE machine. The packaging for the powder is good for the environment and it's economical. My only concern is that the Ultra Tide HE powder is hard to find in stores in my local area.
I have Maytag HE washing machine. After this detergent, it started giving error. I wish TIDE can reimburse my money!!!
My clothes have been washed in Tide only since I was an infant! I'm 45! I would never even consider washing any of my husband's or any of my 3 kids' clothes in anything else. Keep up the great work!
Just switched to this detergent. With the last 2 loads, I've had to unplug and reset machine due to 3 different error messages suggesting issues with too many suds and drain pump. I am questioning if it's related to the new formulation - "ultra". Will buy regular HE tomorrow.
I am totally disappointed in this product. I have used Tide for years. I have a soft water unit and I use more powder per load now than I ever did before. I am looking for a new wash detergent. SORRY...
I have a front loader washer and have to use He which works very well. The problem we have is the availability of He. Stores often don't carry it all the time and when it's on the shelves, their is often a limited supply. Is there another TIDE product that will operate as well? I.E. without excessive suds. He is a great product.
I am very satisfied with this product and it actually makes my money go further
